eero Pro 7 vs eero Max 7
The short answer
Buy the eero Pro 7. It is half the price at every pack size and it carries the same Wi-Fi 7 features, the same Thread and Zigbee smart-home radios, and a 5 Gbps WAN port that is faster than nearly every home connection. The Max 7 is genuinely the stronger radio — four streams on 5 GHz and 6 GHz against the Pro 7's two, which is roughly double on both — and it has a 10 Gig WAN and four Ethernet ports to the Pro 7's two. Buy it when you have multi-gig internet above 5 Gbps, or when you are wiring a large house and want the fastest possible backhaul between nodes. Before you decide, price the pack size you actually need rather than the single unit: these two are $300 apart as one router and **$1000 apart as a three-pack**, and a mesh system is usually bought by the pack.

Price the pack, not the router
This is the first thing to get right, because the headline number is misleading in a way that costs real money.

Comparing "from" prices tells you these routers are $300 apart. If you are buying a mesh system for a house — which is what most people buying either of these are doing — you are buying two or three units, and the real gap is $600 or $1000.
A three-pack of eero Pro 7 costs $700. A single Max 7 costs $600. That is the comparison most buyers should actually be running, and three nodes of the cheaper system will cover a house better than one node of the dearer one, no matter how good its radios are.
Where the Max 7's money goes
It is a genuinely bigger radio, and the difference is streams rather than marketing.

Three times the 5 GHz throughput and roughly double on 6 GHz. In a mesh that matters more than it would in a standalone router, because the same radios carry traffic between nodes as well as to your devices — a faster radio means a faster backhaul, and backhaul is what usually limits a wireless mesh.
Note the 2.4 GHz row goes the other way: 574 Mbps on the Max 7 against 688 on the Pro 7. It is the least important band on either system, but it is one more reminder that a higher tier is not uniformly more of everything.
Wired, the Max 7 is a different class
The eero Pro 7 has two 5 Gbps ports. The Max 7 has two 10 Gbps ports and two 2.5 Gbps ports.
The WAN side follows: 5 Gbps on the Pro 7, 10 Gbps on the Max 7. Both are faster than almost every residential connection sold, so this only decides anything if you have multi-gig fibre above 5 Gbps — and if you do, you already know it.
The extra ports matter more than the extra speed for most people. Four ports on each node makes wired backhaul between rooms straightforward, and wired backhaul is the single biggest improvement available to any mesh system.
The Max 7 also carries 2 GB of RAM to the Pro 7's 1 GB, and adds Bluetooth Low Energy alongside the Thread and Zigbee radios both units have.
What is the same
Both are Wi-Fi 7, tri-band, with MLO, 320 MHz channels, WPA3, and wired backhaul support. Both are Matter controllers with Thread and Zigbee radios, so either one replaces a separate smart-home hub. Both take the same eero Plus subscription for the security and ad-blocking features, and both are managed entirely from the eero app.
The Max 7's feature list is longer — it names MU-MIMO, OFDMA, beamforming, band steering and traffic monitoring, none of which appear on the Pro 7's row. Read those blanks carefully. eero publishes very little per-model spec detail, and MU-MIMO, OFDMA and beamforming are part of the Wi-Fi 7 specification that the Pro 7 is certified against. A missing row here is eero not saying, not the hardware not doing.
The honest recommendation
Work out how many nodes your house needs first, then price both at that number. For most houses the answer is two or three, and at three the eero Pro 7 costs $1000 less.
Buy the Max 7 when you have internet faster than 5 Gbps, when you want 10 Gig wired backhaul between nodes, or when you are covering a large house and would rather have two very strong nodes than three ordinary ones. Those are real reasons and the hardware delivers on them.
Buy the eero Pro 7 in every other case, and if the budget stretches, spend the difference on another Pro 7 node rather than on a better one. Coverage comes from where the nodes are, not from how fast each one could theoretically go.
